Palestinians’ actions deplorable
September 12, 2001
If anybody has any doubt that Tuesday’s attacks originated overseas, wake up.
This letter isn’t about racism and I don’t consider myself a racist, but the actions of the Palestinians on the West Bank are deplorable.
The World Trade Center towers are a pile of twisted steel, shattered concrete, twisted humanity and shattered dreams. And the Palestinians are having a party in the streets?
While I realize that the Palestinian students here at Iowa State didn’t perpetrate this heinous attack on America, I can’t help but wonder how many of them would be celebrating in the streets if they were in Palestine instead of Ames. I myself will never be able to look at one of them without wondering if they are part of the next plan to kill innocent American citizens.
I realize that this position isn’t right, but I can’t help but feel that way after seeing Palestinians celebrating this catastrophe in the streets. I know that a lot of other people feel the same way.
If the Palestinian students and organizations here at Iowa State want to be a part of our community, perhaps they should prove it by publicly condemning these acts for what they are, the actions of cowardly, evil men. If they don’t want to be part of our community, they should leave.
