Daily incorrect, Aerosmith rocks

I am writing this letter in regard to the Wednesday’s editorial pertaining to the Aerosmith concert scheduled to take place Oct. 15 at Hilton. I strongly disagree with the comment that the band doesn’t appeal to the college crowd. I personally know many students already planning to camp out Friday night anxiously awaiting Saturday morning ticket sales.

The point was also addressed that the band will bring people from all over the state and will probably play to a sold out crowd, isn’t this a good thing? Can you imagine the thousands of people and large amount of revenue that will be brought into the Ames community?

I feel that the Iowa State Center should be able to accomodate everyone in Iowa, not just ISU students. The article speculated why the Center doesn’t dish out the money to bring a younger “hip-hop” band to Hilton to appeal to the interest of our college community. All I have to say about that is Vertical Horizon.

Need I say more? The cheap tickets obviously represented the type of entertainment brought forth for the “younger” crowd. I’m not trying to say bad things about Veishea because I thought it was a big success, but why spend a lot of money on a band like Weezer that’s only targeted toward a small audience?

No matter how old they get, Aerosmith can still turn out hit songs, along with the other 20-year-old ones that are in their field. Aerosmith has been around since the `70s and has kept quite an impressive fan base.

I feel they should certainly be respected for that. I will be at the concert cheering as loud as I can and enjoying a killer show, and hope that many of you will put aside that fact that they may be a bit older than other bands and join me in watching one of the best bands alive.
