America not alone in terrorist battle
September 18, 2001
Last Tuesday, the entire world was changed forever. Now we must concern ourselves with the solution to this terrorist act.
The United States of America, land of the free, is made up of every culture in the world.
Every country in the world has some stake in this. We are a melting pot of ideas, nationalities and dreams. Under no circumstances must these characteristics come under fire. Because of these characteristics, the entire world stands with us and the perpetrators will be left standing alone.
The whole world, not just America, is faced with confronting this very attack on the societal progress of the human race.
Such disaster and tragedy must not be allowed in our world. We must also take careful scrutiny into retaliating. People talk about attacking countries.
The anger that people feel is felt by almost everyone in the world. But it is not as simple as that. Terrorism is a principal that is founded on violence. The perpetrators must be brought to justice, but we must caution the use of violence. If we just strike back into countries, then the terrorists have won. Violence begets violence begets violence.
The solution is simple. The world must develop an organization that would condemn violent terrorist acts against one another. This organization would need to contain an official from every country of the world.
This organization (be it the World Trade Organization or a larger version of NATO) would concern itself with trade, the global market place, and regulating these among countries. From these past years, it is evident that the world is becoming a new place for business. Countries and businesses need to survive in a global marketplace to gather resources and capital. This organization would regulate the commerce.
If terrorist activity was gathering in a country, the Organization would step in. A world army would help the country in enforcing a police state to protect those citizens, and as peacefully as possible, detain the terrorists. If effective, no innocent blood or damage would occur.
However, if a country is harboring these terrorists and refuses to do anything to bring them to justice, the Organization would step in with authority. A country harboring these terrorists would need to be put under an economical and resource blockade.
Nothing would go into that counts part of the Organization, the surrounding countries would shut down their borders. Businesses would be shut down and no resources would be allowed to enter such a country.
No citizens would be able to leave this country; a total blockade would surround such a country.
This blockade would exist to put pressure on the country to allow support and help in bringing the terrorists to justice, as well as prohibiting those countries’ citizens from entering other countries. If need be, the Organization’s forces would be brought in to rout out the terrorists.
This is drastic, but it would bring out the terrorists, as all countries would learn not to lend support. Something like this may never need to occur if all nations see the importance of helping to bring terrorists to justice and not supporting terrorists.
But the reality is that terrorists exist out there that will stop at nothing from getting their agenda across.
We need to come together as a unified world and make it clear that we will not tolerate terrorism and likewise will not tolerate countries that have terrorists within their borders. Eventually the terrorists will be exhumed from the planet.
I pray that the governments of the world come together to solve this and bring the perpetrators to justice in a means necessary without killing innocent victims. People calling for instant action make me sick.
If we did such a thing, we could plunge the world into a darkness of war and destruction unlike anything we have seen. As Americans, we pride ourselves on being a country founded on justice.
If we quickly turn to violence we are no better than the terrorists themselves. What we must do is prevent terrorism from happening ever again on our planet. An Organization such as I have described will not be easy to implement and will take time.
But we have to do something. Otherwise, get ready and pick up your weapon and pray that at the end, the earth is still standing.
