Game on

Barring a presidential declaration making Saturday a national day of mourning, the Iowa State-Iowa football game will be played on time.

If Saturday is a day of mourning, athletics director Van de Velde said officials won’t rule out playing, “but we’d have to re-evaluate it.”

“We’re hearing from the White House they want us to get on with our lives,” Van de Velde said.

If it came to rescheduling, Van de Velde said he doesn’t have a date set.

ISU head football coach Dan McCarney said if the game is called “we would support them all the way.”
