Actual victims may suffer because of lie
September 3, 2001
I am writing in response to the alleged rape on campus. I question why, of all people, your name is being protected. I was writing to remind you of the far-reaching implications of your little story.
Think about what you have done for any future rape victims in the area. For years, actual reports of rape will be taken with a grain of salt and a remembrance of an entire community being “had.”
Just think, DPS, police and counseling centers may be less committed to helping actual victims when they recall the waste of time, energy and efforts on you.
These actual victims will suffer greatly as a result of your sick, twisted lying. It’s also no surprise that you picked four, gun-toting BLACK men to be your supposed assaulters, further perpetuating the ancient myths of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Your story is indicative not only of selfishness and bigotry but also serious emotional problems. Good luck with the karma.
