Vision Iowa awards grant to Ames Park and Recreation

A $1.5 million Vision Iowa grant was awarded to Ames Parks and Recreation Monday.

The grant provides initial funding for a $7.5 million water quality project. Additional funding for the project will be asked of voters in a November bond election.

Vision Iowa, a grants program established by the Iowa Legislature to encourage tourism in Iowa, also announced Monday that it will not fund two other Ames proposals – an aquatic and wellness center project and a conservatory for Reiman Gardens.
