Metallica strikes again

Metallica may have settled its beef against Napster, but now the heavy rockers are going after the automotive industry. The band sued MHT Luxury Alloys after the company introduced a new wheel dubbed “The Metallica.” According to representatives from MHT, the company’s director didn’t know about the band at the time the wheel was made.

The wheel was on the market just one season before it was discontinued, but Metallica has asked that any product with the Metallica stamp be recalled from customers.

This isn’t the first trouble Metallica has had keeping its name to itself. According to the band’s lawyer, Metallica is involved with about 10 copyright infringement cases each year.

In the past the band has sued Victoria’s Secret for its Metallica lip pencils and Neiman-Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores for selling Metallica perfume.

Jolie named ambassador

Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie has been fighting more than evil villains lately. She’s combating other kinds of world problems as a newly-named U.N. Goodwill Ambassador.

In order to prepare for her role as an aid worker in an upcoming movie, Jolie visited refugee camps and talked with victims in war-ravaged cities in Pakistan and Tanzania.

Jolie’s good deeds caught the eye of the United Nations. She is slated to receive her official title as Goodwill Ambassador this week.

A soundtrack for the film “Olive Juice,” which stars Leighanne Litrell, will be the company’s first enterprise. The soundtrack includes music by the Backstreet Boys, Joe Pesci and Judith Owen.

Slipknot promo offered in Britain

Slipknot fans in Great Britain will have a unique opportunity to pick up a free copy of the Des Moines band’s “Iowa,” to be released Aug. 28. Anyone who manages to take a live goat to Record Savings, a British record store, for its midnight sale will snag the band’s sophomore release at no charge.

The goat on the cover of the album served as inspiration for the promotion.

Slipknot returns to Iowa for the Pledge of Allegiance tour, which hits Cedar Rapids Tuesday, Sept. 18.
