Professor receives dairy award
An ISU animal-breeding researcher has been selected to receive one of the dairy industry’s most prestigious awards.
A. E. “Gene” Freeman, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Agriculture and Animal Science, will be recognized as the National Dairy Shrine Guest of Honor at the National Dairy Shrine awards banquet for his accomplishments and contributions to the dairy industry. The banquet will be in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 4 in conjunction with the World Dairy Expo.
Freeman has been called the most influential dairy cattle breeding educator by others in his profession.
He has served as a mentor to graduate students and has also written papers and made numerous oral presentations to audiences in both academia and dairy production.
Freeman is also known for his ability to recognize problems dairy farmers face and to solve them by applying scientific principles.
