ISU inks recruits

The Iowa State men’s golf team has picked up two new members for next season.
Tyler Brady and Adam Hertzke have signed letters of intent to play as Cyclones.
Brady, who hails from Lake Park, capped off his senior season by winning his conference tournament as a member of the Harris-Lake Park team.
Brady’s game was first recognized by ISU head coach, Jay Horton, at a Cyclone golf camp.
“He possessed a lot of really sound fundamentals, hit the ball great, and, more importantly, every putt he hit looked like it was going in the hole,” Horton said.
Hertzke, who hails from nearby Jewell, has placed in the top five at the state tournament the past two years.
Horton first saw the South Hamilton student on a recruiting visit. However, Hertzke wasn’t the reason why the Iowa State coach was there.
“He impressed me a lot when I watched him play on the golf course for the first time,” Horton said. “I was actually looking at someone else, and he blew this kid right out of the water.”
The Iowa State coach points out that there are certain qualities that are shown in all of this year’s recruits, which includes Wisconsin’s Chad Kovaleski.
“All of them have an intense passion to play the game of golf and great work ethic,” he said.
