Alumni donation finances renovation

A $150,000 gift to the ISU Foundation will be used to renovate the Structural Engineering Laboratory II building. It will be named the Wallace W. and Julia B. Sanders Structural Engineering Laboratory in honor of the donors.

The gift will be used to finance the construction of a testing floor and reaction frames which will make the engineering laboratory conducive to testing structural components.

Former ISU prof receives award

Rabindra Mukerjea, former assistant to former president Martin Jischke and professor of architecture, was chosen as the recipient of the 2001 Christian Petersen Design Award.

The award, created in 1980, is given annually to “alumni, staff and friends of the university for contributions to the advancement of design through personal aesthetic achievement, exceptional support or extraordinary encouragement and service.”

Mukerjea is now the director of strategic planning and assessment at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., where Jischke currently works.
