As the president of the Iowa State Equestrian Club, I am extremely pleased right now.

Our Intercollegiate show team just got back from the Regional show at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls and I am very proud to say that the hunt seat team are the 2001 zone 6 region 4 champions!!

This accomplishment qualifies our team to compete at the Zone championships at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio next weekend.

A top three finish there would send them to the National show at the Olympic Horse Park in Atlanta, Ga.

We also have several individuals qualified for the Zone show including Meaghan McLoughlin, Jessica Katzman, Tara Beiderman, Jenny Marshall for the hunt seat team and Alex Rodeck for the western team.

While the western team unfortunately didn’t share the success that the hunt seat team did, they still had a very good year, finishing sixth out of 10 colleges and universities in our region.

This has definitely been our most successful season since I joined the team four years ago.

While this was my last year of eligibility, I am looking forward to the continued success of our teams when I take over the coach position next year.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone on both teams for a great year.

Congratulations to everyone who represented our teams this year, and good luck to the hunt seat team as they compete for a spot at Nationals!
