No cleansing needed
April 8, 2001
While I agree that the pro-life demonstrators probably did more harm than good with their grisly signs and yells at passersby, I am very strongly opposed to the “cleansing” activity by pro-choice activists at Iowa State.
Will they next propose to “cleanse” church sanctuaries, living quarters of pro-life supporters and the entire campus (which all students, regardless of their pro-choice or pro-life bent, must daily traverse)?
After all, discussion concerning abortion surely happens in all of these places, an exercise in the Free Speech that seems to be today’s buzzword. Heaven forbid people have differing viewpoints on such a difficult issue!
The entire thought process that necessitates “cleansing” by pro-choice activists after demonstrations by pro-life activists should be re-evaluated, as it fosters an environment where everyone may have their own opinion – as long as it agrees with yours.
