Pro-life, but not pro-`Missionaries’
April 5, 2001
I am pro-life.
Wait, please, before you throw this paper down in disgust, take a moment to hear my side.
I don’t pardon the actions of the members of Missionaries to the Preborn; those people only represent a small fraction of those who believe that abortion is wrong.
I am upset by the tactics they used, I am angry that they belittled people and I wish they had better represented pro-life views.
There is nothing convincing about getting in a woman’s face and calling her a baby killer.
To Mr. Carroll, the man quoted to have said, “I could pray to God that he strike you dead. … You believe that a human being could be killed for convenience,” I ask you, sir, what gives you the right to pray that God would strike someone dead?
The pictures around campus were disturbing and hardly respectful.
Whether you consider it a baby or a fetus, they are pictures of a dead person.
No one deserves to have their picture exploited after they die, whether they lived long enough to breathe oxygen or not.
Not all people who hold the pro-life viewpoint agree with the demonstrations yesterday.
Please, remember that. Give us a chance.
