`C’ students deserving of scholarships?

I have no problems at all with planks No. 2, 3 or 4 of Bing Howell and Zach Eakman’s platform (frat promotion, diversity and representation), but I would like to pick apart their first plank, that of getting more grants and scholarships to ISU students. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for my friends and I receiving free money, and I detest the budget cuts, but there is something wrong with their idea that everybody should get the new scholarships. Their quote was, “Not everyone can be that A-plus student to get the scholarships. You have to help the B and C students, too.” Just how do they intend to define the qualifications for this scholarship that rewards C students?I know if my GPA drops below a B, I lose my scholarship (which I received for having As in high school). How would they know when to terminate this C student’s scholarship — when his or her grade drops below a D? We all know that the scholarships would mostly go to the A students and a few Bs. I feel that their attempt to pitch these new scholarships is merely an attempt to appeal to the masses.Getting money to ISU students in a different way is commendable, but don’t mislead people.Sorry to counter-point you, Bing. Just some friendly debating.Scott A. Connerly
