Which game was more newsworthy?
March 21, 2001
I’m as big a fan of the ISU men’s basketball team as anyone else here at Iowa State.
However, I am an equal fan of the women’s team. I was rather disappointed to see that the Daily doesn’t equally appreciate both teams.
Why should the team that lost receive one-third of the cover space while the winning team was reduced to 8 inches or 3 percent of the cover space?
Those women work just as hard in classes and practices as the men do.
They deserve amazing recognition for being able to continuously succeed on the court and in life.
Here’s to the ISU women’s basketball team, all the clubs and teams the Daily doesn’t cover and anyone who is just a big all-around ISU fan.

How disappointing that the Daily staff felt that the ISU men’s basketball team losing the first round NCAA game last week was more newsworthy for front-page news than the ISU women’s basketball team winning a Sweet Sixteen berth in Denver by defeating Florida State Sunday afternoon.
Now that would seem to be “news” for the front page of Monday’s paper, rather than page 12.
