There’s help available for ISU students
March 23, 2001
Thank you for your article informing the ISU community about one graduate student’s recent troubles and speculated suicide attempt.
Recently, I was in a horribly co-dependent and ill-fated relationship in addition to experiencing other life stressors I was overwhelmed with classes and job prospects.
I hit rock bottom.
I felt as though there was little reason to go on, and I attempted to take my life.
It was more a plea for help.
I was confused and very depressed.
Other students experience weak and difficult times. Some may not fall victim to the degree of suicidal ideations or attempt the act, yet this is an important issue to address.
Thank you for promoting the ISU Student Counseling Service.
It helps to talk to professionals or people sympathetic to the needs of others in times of crisis and stress.
One final thought: The good times are as temporary as are the bad times, but death is not temporary.
It’s pretty much a permanent gig.
There is help available.
