Daily needs new sports staff
March 26, 2001
What would I do with $200,000?
Hire a new sports staff.
I am sick of reading my Iowa State Daily and not hearing about the sports programs at Iowa State.
With the success of ISU sports this year, I would expect that the writers would be praising the programs and not knocking them.
To write about Larry Eustachy’s new deal and say that it might not have been worth it is terrible.
I think some of the writers should get a job in Iowa City.
The thing is, our basketball teams had tremendous seasons.
They worked really hard to accomplish all they have done.
The writers acknowledge this, but then still find a reason to put a negative twist on every story.
I have a suggestion.
Iowa State has many sports here.
The track team gets articles printed almost three days after their meets.
Why don’t our writers try and drum up some excitement for the teams that are still playing?
I am a huge baseball fan, but due to the Daily’s coverage I have no idea about how the ISU baseball team has been doing or when they play.
The Daily should step up and put some sort of schedule for weekend sports.
Why have sports writers when we have the Associated Press?
I still can’t comprehend how or why we need Associated Press articles to cover ISU basketball.
Isn’t that what the sports writers are supposed to do?
These men have the privilege of watching ISU basketball and get paid to do it?
I can’t understand why we need the Associated Press.
