The ISU men’s basketball team has taken a huge step toward defending their Big 12 crown. By defeating Kansas Saturday, Iowa State holds a two-game lead over the rival Jayhawks.

Much respect should be coming to Iowa State now. After all, beating Kansas should propel them out of the Jayhawks shadow.

Not so fast.

The latest ESPN.com on-line poll Sunday asks fans to pick which team they feel will win the men’s NCAA tournament.

The regulars are there such as Dick Vitale’s favorite team Duke along with North Carolina. Of course, Michigan State and Illinois are in the mix – they are from the Big 10. Stanford is there. And there is only one Big 12 team to vote for.
