Horton and Tinsley scored 10 points each in the first 20 minutes. The Jayhawks slowly cut into the Cyclone lead throughout the second half before going on a surge in the final minutes.Trailing by six with 1:30 left, the Jayhawks scored on Kenny Gregory’s jumper and a pair of free throws from Eric Chenowith.”We knew they were coming back, we knew they wouldn’t quit,” Horton said. “They have a great coaching staff and with the talent they have, we knew it wasn’t over.”Leading by two, the Cyclones missed a shot, and the Jayhawks got the rebound and set up the final shot. Kirk Hinrich got the inbounds pass and passed on the shot, dishing to Axtell who hurriedly threw the final shot.
