Paluch lacks class, respect, graciousness freshman says
February 8, 2001
I am writing this letter in response to Tim Paluch’s Feb. 7 column which was given the elegant title of “Monkey Bidness.” It is rather disgusting to me that a writer, who is a journalism major no less, chooses to compare the President of the United States to a chimp. This type of attitude is what is wrong with politics today. Regardless of whether someone agrees with President Bush’s proposals or not, I feel he has earned enough respect not to be referred to as a “chimp” or “Dubya.” After reading several of Paluch’s columns, it appears to me that he wanted his candidate to lose just so he would have something to bitch about in his column. I realize it is his space to fill as he pleases, but Mr. Paluch could learn a lot by following in the footsteps of former Vice-President Al Gore and his gracious concession speech at an extremely difficult and frustrating time in his life. A little touch of class would go a long way in creating a sense of integrity for Mr. Paluch, something that his column significantly lacks.Clint Albertsen
