Too much, Magic Bus? No way!

Editorial Board

Every day we get in the queue to get on the bus that takes us from Hy-Vee to North Grand Mall to Campus to Main Street to Cinemark to Ontario. We spend an inordinate amount of time digging in our sofas for quarters, dimes and nickels to shuck away.Well you can stop your shucking and start your grinning, Iowa State, because now a proposal could make it possible for students to ride the bus anywhere they want to for the mere addition of only $9 dollars to their already modest fees. That’s like the cost of one cheese pizza or the complete works of Ayn Rand in paperback. There is even talk of shuttling us to Des Moines and adding a gold route to service Greekland. Imagine the possibilities not only for us but for future generations of super mobile ISU students. This proposal is nothing but good and anyone who tells you otherwise is a splitter. For the overwhelming majority of students, having the option of paying the paltry sum of $9 is an enormous savings. For that handful of students who live on campus or say they never ride the bus, the benefit to others warrants taking one for the team. Unless you are the kind of shut-in who goes from Friley to class and back every day without venturing in the wild world of Ames proper, you should be riding the bus.If you commute, you can still hop the orange line and eliminate parking woes.Every year it’s the same thing, people complaining about parking. “I can’t find a place to park. I got a ticket for parking illegally for only five minutes. Why isn’t there more parking?”Well, this will solve that little problem. Take your wheels back to mom and dad’s, park them in the shade and come back to Ames and get on the bus. We’ll be waiting.editorialboard: Carrie Tett, Greg Jerrett, Katie Goldsmith, Andrea Hauser and Jocelyn Marcus
