My conclusion done my way
February 20, 2001
I got a phone interview by Daily reporter Julie Rule on Feb 13. But I was astonished by parts of her article published in the Feb. 15 Daily named “Officials watch for admissions fraud.” Things I mostly talked about were GRE and ETS’s letter in the interview. When we talked about the transcript issues, I stated my conclusion at first. The conclusion is it is the least likely for people to change his transcripts because it is illegal and can easily be detected. The example I gave is my university has specially designed envelope (not “special design developed ” as in Julie’s article) with a laser mark. But I have no any implication that universities do not have such envelope may lead to frauds and I have no intention to compare different universities and their policy on this issue. I believe there were some misunderstandings in our interview. Unfortunately, they are so serious that the words cited in Julie’s paper just weaken my conclusions. To repeat what I mean in my conclusion: Transcript is such a serious problem that very few people dare to risk on it.Yu Linxiao
