A whispering in the willows

I must admit I wasn’t planning on coming to Iowa State and finding a lot of conservatives running around, but man, I am surprised at all the liberals. It seems that everyone and their grandmother voted for the “other guy” and they are going to let you know that “Dubya” is the thief of the nation. Then you look at the picture of how this came to be and you have to sit back and go “hmmm, interesting.”Not only did President Bush receive 271 electoral votes, he won them mostly from the people we are regionally related to. If you look at the map a majority of the working class and morally conscience, Midwestern people voted for him. Odd, because if President Bush was so “big-business” he should have gotten the vote from all of the major cities too, which have all the money, right? This brings up my next point for all you people out there who think that that piece of paper that has worked for over 200 years should be rewritten. If the United States would move to a popular vote, the Midwestern states would get killed in the vote. This is exactly why the Constitution was written the way is was, so the little states or states with small populations would be equal to the large. Then we have the big controversy about Florida, the “Bush stole the election because of Secretary Harris and his brother” story. Well to start off, Gov. Bush took himself out of the “loop” when this whole mess started. He stepped out so there wouldn’t be any “bias.” Then we have Secretary Harris who followed the law! Yes, the law said that the votes had to be certified by seven days after the election. Then the Florida Supreme Court proceeded to make law and say the Florida state Constitution was wrong and gave them a few more days, which they did, and the result was the same. So now they are saying that not all the votes were counted and all that.Well I hate to say this, but according to the Associated Press, the votes are in and counted and Bush actually received six more votes in the long run. Sorry guys, he still won!”But he is going to combine Church and State!” Apparently now in America it is a bad thing to be a Christian, because, as with Attorney General hopeful John Ashcroft, if you are Christian and you like it, the Democrats, hate you. Now that Republicans have power, they are going to give a little responsibility back to us, so we don’t have to depend on them, they depend on us. This means states get more power and we have to take responsibility for our actions. That means that if something bad happens in a school or a football game, it isn’t the radio’s fault, it isn’t the media’s fault, it’s the fault of the family for not raising that child to know right from wrong. So, if you are a person who takes responsibility for one’s own action and you like to follow the law of God and the law of the United States of America, you are now hated, because you have the power.
