PC Christmas

Katie Bryda

People in this country have the right to celebrate any religion or cultural practice they choose. Our country is open to people from elsewhere to come here to live and learn. Because we are open to everyone, we embrace each other’s traditions, but does this mean that we have to relinquish our own? Why can’t there be Christmas trees and lights throughout campus marking the celebration of an American tradition? I wouldn’t go to another country and ask them to take down their culturally significant displays and replace them with my own. With all of the attention paid to political correctness, we’ve forgotten our background and become culturally neutral abandoning the traditions our country was founded on. I’m not interested in seeing that happen.
