Missed the mark
January 9, 2001
Greg Jerrett missed the mark. The big loser is Al Gore. Now wait before you prejudge what I have to offer. Vice President Al Gore had all the political winds to his back. He had an economy that should have handed him the Presidency. Second, he was the Veep to a popular, two-term President. Third, he had the press. The economy should have been enough to make it a cake walk. But lets face it, only 27 percent of eligible voters wanted Gore. With all the winds to his back, shouldn’t he have done better?Say what you want about President-elect George W. Bush’s smirk, intelligence, or his former drinking problem. George W. was the one standing when Gore blew it.
