Five Questions with the Candidate
January 22, 2001
1. What is the one aspect of Iowa State that you like most?
Geoffroy: “The people. It’s an overall sense of quality that I feel.” 2. Which movie is your pick for the Oscar’s “Best Picture” award?
“My gosh. I’m not a movie-goer.” 3. What do you think is the most important meal of the day?
“Well, breakfast, for me.” 4. What percentage of time should professors spend on research and on teaching?
“Research and teaching together should be where they spend most of their time. Together.” 5. If you were stranded on a desert island, which book, piece of music and celebrity would you want with
you?
“I’d take Arnold Schwartzenegger, for the celebrity, because he might get me off (the island). Which book?
Probably the Boy Scout Manual. Music, I don’t know, swing music would be good, because I like swing
music. I don’t know which song.” Transcribed from an interview with Gregory Geoffroy by Daily reporter Sara Tennessen on January 19, 2001.
