Horton nabs weekly award

ISU senior guard Kantrail Horton was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging over 20 points.Horton helped Iowa State rally from an eight point deficit at the half to beat Oklahoma Saturday.While nailing a career-high 27 points against the Sooners, Horton brought down 11 boards, notching his third double-double of the year. He shot 8-of-12 from the field and an incredible 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc. Earlier in the week Horton and the Cyclones dominated Illinois-Chicago, 95-44. Horton scored 13 points, including two treys. The senior from Covington, Ga. was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line in the victory.Horton is the first Cyclone to win the Player of the Week award this season. Past winners include Kenny Gregory and Nick Collison of Kansas, Maurice Baker of Oklahoma State, Kareem Rush of Missouri and Darren Kelly of Texas.
