A funny thing happened on the way to the forum
January 17, 2001
Yesterday the first candidate for the ISU presidency, Sharon Brehm, visited the ISU campus. If our beautiful landscaping and building didn’t impress her, the involvement and interest of ISU students and faculty did.Brehm participated in two open forums during her visit, one concerning diversity issues and the other an open forum for audience members to voice their questions or concerns to Brehm. Both forums had a great turnout, showing that members of the ISU community care about where their university is headed. This is the kind of involvement Iowa State needs more of. Decisions are made everyday that affect each person here, from the custodians to the award-winning scientists, and the next university president will be one of the main facilitators of these. So don’t stop now!Our next presidential candidate, Cora Marrett, is also holding two open forums for the ISU community today. The first, a diversity forum, will be held from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Pioneer Room of the Memorial Union. It will be followed by an open forum from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., also in the Pioneer Room. This is one more prime opportunity to get in on the action and help in the search for ISU’s next president. So, instead of going home and watching the Dukes of Hazard again, grab a coffee or soda and make a date with your friends to check out the next presidential candidate. While your there, you could ask a question or listen to any debate that springs up.Let’s see those rooms packed tomorrow, Iowa State. After all, this decision will affect you all.
