Iowa State stomps Utah Valley, 53-0

Coming off a 47-0 win over South Dakota State, the Cyclones followed it with another lopsided win over Utah Valley.

Iowa State moved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12 with a 53-0 win.

The dual began with a 12-0 Cyclone lead after Utah Valley left 133-pounds and 184-pounds open.

The action began with Iowa State picking up a major decision off a 13-4 Chase Straw win at 157-pounds.

Following Straw, 165-pound freshman Zane Mulder snagged a 10-2 major decision. 

Ames native and redshirt freshman 174-pounder Marcus Coleman dominated, earning a 17-2 technical fall.

Before intermission, 197-pounder Willie Miklus exploded for a 17-6 major decision, pushing the lead to 23-0.

After the break, heavyweight Gannon Gremmel secured a pin to make it 29-0 in Iowa State’s favor.

Iowa State’s 125-pounder Alex Mackall tagged Utah Valley with another pin. Iowa State 141-pounder continued the pin streak, pushing the lead to 47-0. 

To close the dual, 149-pounder Jarrett Degen won via pin in the first period.
