Insight.com bowl tickets for students go on sale tomorrow, and in three weeks, thousands of ISU students will fly to Phoenix, Ariz. to support their team.
Tickets for the general public went on sale Monday, and they sold 10,000 tickets in two hours. So, any student wanting tickets for the game should have the ticket office set on speed dial.
Sports teams have historically been a source of unity for college students and alumni. Even those who don’t like basketball probably watched the ISU men’s team play for the Big 12 championship last year, and students formed a mob after their excitement at the win in the Sweet Sixteen match of the NCAA tournament.
It’s great to have something like a bowl game to rally the student body.
This is the first time Iowa State has gone to a bowl in 22 years, and students should be excited for and proud of their team.
But among all the excitement of a bowl game, ISU students still need to be careful while in Phoenix.
Be safe, both while traveling to Arizona and while cheering for your team. Keep out of trouble and out of the way of the Phoenix police.
The ISU football team has shown incredible improvement in the last four years, and this bowl game is a much-deserved prize for the patience and loyalty of ISU fans.
So, we wish good luck to the football team after a great season.
And, ISU students, go to Phoenix and have a great time. But be sure that you come back.
