Letter to the editor: Somebody needs a thanking
December 6, 2000
Tuesday’s marching band rehearsal was a vast improvement over the tears of Monday’s rehearsal when we were told that some of our members would not be able to go on the bowl trip. Smiles and cheers accompanied the announcement that the decision had been made to send the entire band.
As a member of the Iowa State University Cyclone Football “Varsity” Marching Band, I want to thank those involved in this decision and everyone who made their opinions known including: Interim President Seagrave, Vice President of External Affairs Murray Blackwelder, Iowa State’s new Athletics Director, Music Department Head Sue Haug, Director of Bands Dr. Michael Golemo, Marching Band Director Marty Province and all the ISU family and fans who support us.
Now that the decision has been made, we have hours of work ahead of us. The drill has been written, music is being memorized, and hats and gloves are donned as we go outside to take the field.
The goal in all of our minds is marching the best program of the year. So when we take the field for pre-game and half-time in Phoenix, know that all our hard work is because we want to show the nation what Iowa State University Magic is all about. Let us lead you in cheering our team in the best way we know possible. See you in Phoenix!
