Letter to the editor: Go, Gore, go!
December 5, 2000
The Courts have spoken, and it is time for Al Gore to GO! Public opinion is drifting further from Gore and the longer he draws this out the more damage he does to our electoral process and especially to voter confidence.I have not always voted for every office on the ballot. If I was unfamiliar with a slate, it was more proper to withhold support. Now, if I were to leave a blank in any office’s ballot, someone might attempt to “divine” what my intent was. My intent was NOT to vote for that particular office, however, I see how partisan and biased parties in a contested or close election could turn my intentional non-vote into a vote for their candidate.ÿIf Al Gore continues this attempt to overthrow a legal and certified election by casting mud and evil aspersions on every elected public official who will not bend his way, he undermines faith in the system. Team Gore seems intent on fanning the flames of racial division. This is a dangerous and risky scheme and needs to be stopped before people get hurt.It seems Team Gore’s last best hope for overturning this election rests on throwing out thousands of legible, presentable, legally and intentionally cast votes disenfranchising Florida voters, especially overseas military personnel. This is the height of hypocrisy and shows that the Democrats are not concerned about counting every ballot but only seeking victory at all costs. Please urge Mr Gore to concede quickly for the good of the nation!
