We’ve got spirit, how ’bout you?

Iowa State has made it possible for students to buy discounted tickets for the Insight.com Bowl in Phoenix. Thank you to the ISU Athletics Department!

Your generosity is quickly becoming legendary around these parts.

Football games are won and lost on the energy generated by bands and fans. Anyone whose played football, basketball or any number of sports where spectators are welcome, knows that taking the field to muted praise is almost worse than taking the field in silence.

During the course of a game when muscles become less willing to work and the pain of too many hits begins to take its toll, winning and losing can be separated by a few decibels of screaming fans.

The Huskers are a great example of a team that thrives due in no small part to its fan base.

Iowa State has been less than appreciative of its fans in recent years ignoring student complaints about being too far from the action, giving preferred seats to alumni and others who like to enjoy a game sitting down.

Maybe when Iowa State sees what fan support can do in Phoenix, they will come back with a renewed attitude about the student fans who should be down on the front lines yelling their heads off in support of their own classmates.

There is some unbridled energy in students that could use a little harnessing. Students want it harnessed. They want to pump up their teams.

You drive us wild with some good seats and we’ll drive you crazy with some sweet victories.
