Letter to the editor: Guns and L.A. riots
November 13, 2000
Regarding the right for citizens to own guns: If we don’t have guns, the police will protect us from criminals, right? WRONG!
During the Rodney King Riots in L.A. the police left the area. The only thing that kept neighborhoods safe from rioting was the armed citizens banding together to keep their block secure. The police were nowhere to be seen. Individual ownership of firearms was what kept these people safe.
