Letter to the editor: Vote Clinton

We would like to encourage voters to elect Wayne Clinton as Story County Supervisor. We have known Wayne in a number of settings for nearly two decades and are greatly impressed with his integrity and commitment to our community.

We have known Wayne as a social studies teacher at Ames Junior High where he has been a mentor to generations of students. Wayne’s promotion of the Black History Show Down has given students a chance to learn about history outside the classroom as well. We worked with Wayne on the Kuumba School Project where his contributions on the Steering Committee helped create a unique multicultural educational program in Ames that was awarded an Iowa State Board of Education Equity Award.

Wayne and his wife, Edna, have many roles and deep roots in the community. Wayne serves on many commissions, has been a member of the NAACP and served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club.

Those who know Wayne testify to his willingness and ability to work hard for the well-being of all. The 1997 Humanitarian Award he received from the Ames Human Relations Commission is just one public notice of his accomplishments. For over 30 years, Wayne has been involved in civic activities beyond the requirements of his profession. Wayne Clinton is an upstanding member of our community and one who will represent Story County in a manner in which we can all be proud.
