Letter to the editor: The saddening

Heather Patterson

I am in complete agreement with Scott Sevcik and his letter to the editor about the Daily editorial board. I have contemplated writing the last few times I read the editorial and other articles bashing Governor Bush and insinuating his lack of intelligence.

I am in no way a raging Republican nor am I super-involved with politics. What I am is a person who looks at the people, not the party and makes the most informed decisions possible based on information I read.

I respect the opinions of others and their right to choose. What I don’t respect is the Daily’s constant bashing of Governor Bush and the pathetic attempts to brainwash the students of Iowa State into supporting Vice President Gore. No candidate is perfect and they have all made mistakes and said some really stupid things; even Vice President Gore.

It is unfair to pick on one candidate and present only him in a negative light. Granted, there will be others like me, who will make their own informed decisions and vote for the candidate they feel is most qualified for the job, but I have been saddened by the Daily’s biased coverage of the elections and sickened by their inflation of Vice President Gore.

Let the students choose the candidates and simply give them the tools to make those informed decisions.
