Letter to the editor: Take a minute
October 17, 2000
It is time to make a statement at Iowa State University. Thursday morning between 9 a.m. and noon in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union, the Board of Regents will decide the future of 68,000 students in the state of Iowa.
The Board of Regents is composed of nine citizens selected by the governor of Iowa to set policy at Iowa State, the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa.
These individuals represent you, your families, and your neighbors.
On Thursday, they will vote on the proposed 9.9 percent tuition and fees increase for students.
For in-state undergraduates, it will increase your cost by $300 next fall and for out-of-state students over $800.
We have heard from hundreds of students, parents, alumni and families. We need your help on Thursday to pass these concerns onto the Regents.
Take a minute to stop by the Sun Room, and let the Regents know how the tuition increase will affect you.
