Co-Chair Morman looks to make Homecoming fun for all students

Mike Morman, Homecoming Committee co-chair, promised an exciting and a more involved Homecoming celebration for ISU students during the week.
“This year we’ve tried to get a lot more residence hall and off-campus involvement in activities through tournaments or the banner displays that are north of the Scheman Building right now, and we’re really trying to market to the entire Iowa State family,” he said.
Morman, senior in architecture, said he has been involved in other facets of the ISU community, but this is his first year working with the Student Alumni Leadership Council.
“I have been involved in ways not directly related to Homecoming,” he said.
“I had done Homecoming work through my fraternity but never actually did anything on a professional level,” he said.
Morman said he re-ceived the position after the earlier co-chair stepped down.
He said Greg Schleusner, the other Homecoming Central Committee co-chair, had a part in choosing Morman to co-chair with him.
“It was an interesting situation because I was involved in selecting him as a co-chair,” Schleusner said.
“He keeps time lines and is much more organized than I am.”
Morman said he wanted to help out because he has always enjoyed the ISU Homecoming celebration.
“I’m from Iowa, and my parents both came to Iowa State,” he said. “I’ve always liked the celebration.”
Dave Critch-low, adviser for the Student Alumni Leadership Council, works directly with the co-chairs on execution of Homecoming festivities.
“Based on what information the co-chairs gave us and their interview, it has led us to believe they would do an excellent job getting the week going,” he said. “So far it’s been an excellent week.”
Morman said he is looking forward to seeing the fruits of his labor this year.
“I’m not sure there’s a specific event I’m looking forward to,” he said. “After 11 months it’s finally nice to see everything coming together as planned and the events we’ve already had come off without a hitch and hoping everything else goes off without a hitch too. I hope Iowa State gets really involved with it.”
