Letter to the editor: Stillman doltish – get out and vote
October 21, 2000
Poor Brian Stillman can no longer endure the pain and harsh responsibilities of living as a mature adult in the real world.
He is confused, thinking that only politicians are ignorant and deceitful, while he is doltish enough to encourage Daily readers to abstain from this year’s presidential election.
In “Not voting — that’s my solution,” Stillman implies that not voting will make a stronger statement than being an adult and making an adult decision on election day.
The only statement I feel that makes is, “I’m stupid and I’m about to be hit in a place that will take me completely by surprise and hurt a great deal.”
I will vote on Election Day, and I will make a statement!
I will be voting for the person I believe is most suited for the position of president.
That person may not be elected.
However, the more support they receive, the stronger their position and their party’s position will be in the next election.
I’m sure if the rally that supported Governor Ventura had felt as Stillman feels, Minnesota would not now be led by one of the nation’s most sincere and down-to-earth leaders.
So I plead with you, no matter what your political viewpoints are, do a little research into the candidates and don’t stay home on Election Day.
