Letter to the editor: Frat boy scuffle
October 17, 2000
If I had a dime for every time I was called a queer, I would be the richest queer in the entire world!
The same goes for every time I have ever been insulted in a bar, on the street or at school.
In response to Ryan Gildersleeve’s letter I say this: you were involved in a mere frat boy scuffle.
Sure it was a hateful incident, but was it a crime? Surely not.
What is a crime, however, is to have your friend tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere and beaten until he dies.
That is a hate crime.
My advice to you is to take all of your anger and ignorance and suck it up.
Breathe it in and let it make you stronger. Put bandages on your bruised ego, get up and get ready to do it again.
Violent people are morons, and we have a lot more of them to encounter.
Just remember that Karma works in amazing ways.
