Letter to the editor: Sick of bikers
October 22, 2000
I am officially sick and tired of bikers on campus. I don’t have a problem with all bikers though, just a certain group of them. The bikers who think they own the sidewalks are the group that I am speaking of here.
This type of biker will either force you out of the way or almost hit you in an attempt to weave their way through pedestrian traffic.
I don’t mind if bikers use the sidewalks, but not during peak hours when most people are walking. This is the time of day when classes are getting out, and a lot of people are walking and riding bikes. It is getting really bad when you get to an intersection and have to look in all directions to make sure there is not a biker who is barreling down the sidewalk. It is beginning to be like dodging bullets on campus. I can’t even walk with my head down for 15 seconds without fear of being impaled by a biker.
Why do they not use the grass where there are rarely any pedestrians? I don’t know. They could get to where they are going faster without people in their way. All I ask is that bikers watch out where the hell they are going and get on the grass. To those bikers who do this, congrats and we pedestrians applaud you.
