Science brief: Annual Insect Horror Festival today
September 13, 2000
They squirm and fly and crawl, and they’re coming to campus. The ISU Entomology Club is hosting the annual Insect Horror Festival today from 6 to 10 p.m. in the South Ballroom of the Memorial Union. The free festival will allow bug-lovers to get up close and personal with hissing cockroaches, giant millipedes and butterflies featured in the insect petting zoo. For the bravest participants, the film festival’s annual insect tasting event will feature cricket clusters and mealworm dip with crackers. The movie, “Microcosmos” will begin at 7:30 p.m. It is a documentary about insect life in meadows and ponds, using close-up, slow motion and time-lapse photography.
