Gallagher slices and dices his way through Stephens Auditorium

Where else can you take a shower in fruit cocktail on a Saturday night? Grab a poncho and head to Stephens Auditorium where Gallagher, famed comedian and human food processor, will be slicing and dicing a wide variety of food groups. Gallagher has been performing his shows across the country for over 25 years. Having been around the proverbial Hollywood block, his name is well known, not only for his Sledge-O-Matic food fights but for his great sense of humor. “You might not remember his joke but you are going to remember that piece of cantaloupe hitting you in the head,” Ruth Ann Hoffman, Gallagher’s personal promoter for 18 years, said. Gallagher gathers information for his shows from many different areas. Unlike some comedians, Gallagher writes all of his own material. “He’s a true observer of human nature and he draws from his own life,” Hoffman said. “Nothing is sacred for Gallagher. He’s going to talk about everything from local issues to parenting.” Gallagher’s life is certainly as exciting as his wild and crazy shows. He recently sued his brother for impersonating him and his act, and he also suffered his first heart attack, Hoffman said. “He said he’s going to have another one [heart attack] trying to figure out why he had the first one,” Hoffman said. Audience members should be warned: Expect the unexpected. “It’s never the same with Gallagher,” Hoffman said with a laugh. “He’s fun . very unpredictable and thought provoking.” Anyone wanting more information is encouraged by Hoffman to check out Gallagher’s Web site: www.gallaghersmash.com. The show is not recommended for anyone under the age of 16.
