In response to the review of the 2 Skinnee J’s “Volumizer,” the not-so-flattering review pointed out that the band should improve with each album. Volumizer has done just that. Yes, it is distinctly different from their debut album, “Supermercado,” but it’s amazing nonetheless. Different does not equal bad. Just look at the difference between Supermercado and the J’s previous releases. The musical progression of these men is astonishing. 2 Skinnee J’s have overcome many personal obstacles regarding their careers over the last year, and their growth is apparent on their new record. A number of problems arose in the last few months with Capricorn, the J’s California based record label and a lack of a CD distributor on Capricorn’s part, pushed back the mass CD release to the public, and the tour supporting the album back from Sep. 12 to Oct. 10. As most J’s fans know, a J’s show is the most energizing and entertaining show you could see. Taking crowd participation to the highest level, the J’s love and live for their fans. I have come to know the guys as some of the nicest and gracious people I have met. The Volumizer tour will start following the new release date of the record and will make its way to a town near here. If you would like to request the J’s come to Ames, send a friendly e-mail to FamousRT@ aol.com and let them know the support they have in Ames. Don’t be discouraged by that narrow-minded review. Go pick up the album Oct. 10, and I am sure you will be impressed. Kristen Greiner
