The Story County Republicans must be really desperate. In attempt to sensationalize and politicize a technical problem at the Story County Auditor’s office, it has resorted to trying to smear Story County Auditor Judy Emmons’ good reputation. Emmons is one of the state’s best county auditors. Judy has served Story County and its residents well during her tenure. Judy has made it easier for students to vote by setting up satellite voting stations so that students may vote early before Election Day. Emmons has simplified the voting process by replacing antiquated voting machines with new paper ballot machines that allow for election results to be reported electronically to the auditor’s office after the polls close. Emmons posts the results of every election and ballot measure on the auditor’s office Web site. Students may print a voter registration form from the auditor’s office Web site. If already registered to vote in Story County, voters may print an early ballot request form to vote from the comfort of their home. Judy Emmons has been a strong leader for the voters of Story County. To suggest that she step aside seven weeks before a major election would be nothing but foolish! Tom Blair
