The temperature has been less than refreshing, but as I returned to Iowa State this semester and walked past the old, familiar buildings, I noticed something. I want to know why half the girls on this campus feel the need to dress like whores. Do you realize your body will get hotter when you wear tight clothes? Loose, light-colored shirts are an excellent way to stay cool. Maybe you don’t wanna shave so you wear a “cute” pair of tight jeans. I’ll let you in on a little secret about college: nobody really cares if the last time you shaved was yesterday. Seriously, people go to class in their pajamas half the time. NOBODY CARES! And yeah, it looks fabulous when you wear that Saturday night to all the parties – you get to be the queen then. But, it takes class to know when and where to look like that. Sometimes, you just want to dress up a little for class. That’s cool. I like to do that sometimes, too. But, I want to know when the term “dressing up” meant “look like a hooker.” Maybe you think I look sloppy because I hardly ever wear make-up to class. But girls, please ask yourself after you get dressed, “Would I want my parents to see me in this?” Odds are, you’re not gonna see your parents walking around campus. It’s simply a matter of dignity and class. April Young
