The Ames City Council will decide if the community will participate in a vote to raise the hotel-motel tax to 7 percent from 5 percent at tonight’s meeting at 6:30 at City Hall, 515 Clark St.

The revenue would be allotted to the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau and a variety of community initiatives.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to President Martin Jischke’s farewell reception.

It will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.
