Mary Huba has been named assistant vice provost for undergraduate programs.
Huba also serves as a professor of educational leadership and policy studies.
In her new position, Huba will head the university’s student outcome assessment effort and work with Howard Shapiro, vice provost for undergraduate programs, on projects to enhance teaching and learning.
As student outcomes assessment coordinator, Huba will chair a university-wide committee that consults with faculty and administrators on assessment issues and techniques, making presentations to faculty groups and reports to the Board of Regents.
Shapiro said he is excited to have the opportunity to work with Huba.
“She’s a real leader on the campus in terms of educational innovation and really using what’s called assessment to effectively improve instruction,” he said. “And she’s going to be a just a well-respected person to do this.”
Huba said she’s happy to take over the position.
“I’m excited to be part of the initiatives to improve teaching and learning on campus, to integrate assessments into the teaching-learning process and to help departments collect assessment data for continuous improvement,” she said.
