Jerrett is the man

Todd R. Melcher

Greg Jerrett, you are the man! You are a shining example of the quintessential liberal embracing people’s right to make choices as long as they agree with you. Disagree, and you set the bad folks straight.

What right do those people have, disagreeing with you? Not that I would call those oaths, insults and innuendos against the Boy Scouts of America that spewed forth from your pen “hate speech.” No! We shall call it concerned criticism, showing them the error of their ways.

How dare they set standards for their private organization that do not fit your concept of how the world should be?

I’m sure all 7,000 of those Boy Scouts and their parents were “rude, foul-mouthed little punks” just because you said so, and without a doubt it had nothing to do with the hostility they received from a very vocal, opinionated minority.

You and your friends would never call names or vandalize displays put up to offend you.

I can’t recall seeing the Boy Scouts putting up any anti-gay displays. In the last two years, I have dealt with 300 Scouts during their winter survival training on campus, I haven’t been treated rudely or heard a lot of foul language, but then, I must be wrong because that does not fit with what you told me.

Well, Greg, I hope during Independence Day you remember those freedoms you have to put those people straight, to have and voice your opinion. Heaven forbid you give thanks that those people have the same rights. That’s what makes this nation the greatest. Continue to be the poster child for the kind, thoughtful, fair-minded and understanding liberals who help make up this great country. Continue to celebrate diversity as long as it is your brand of diversity.
