The information in the log is obtained from Department of Public Safety reports released to the Daily. All those accused of violating the law are innocent until proven guilty in court.
July 5
* An officer observed two men consuming alcohol on Welch Avenue. Johnny R. Jones and Joby D. Beaderstadt, both of Des Moines, were issued citations for public consumption and were released.
* Memorial Union staff reported the theft of furniture from the Colonel Pride Lounge. Estimated loss was $1,165.
* Transportation Services staff reported that tires on two university vehicles had been slashed.
* An individual in Ross Hall reported that his keys were either lost or stolen.
* Two vehicles collided in a parking lot at the Veterinary Medicine complex. There were no injuries, and damage was very minor.
* Melissa Sampson, 1124 Harding Ave., was involved in an accident in the Memorial Union parking ramp. No one was injured.
July 6
* A fire-pull station was illegally activated at Friley Hall. A 12-year-old juvenile male was identified as the person who pulled the alarm. He will be referred to Juvenile Court Services.
July 7
* An individual brought an abandoned bike found near Friley Hall to the mailroom. The item was placed into secure storage and later released to the owner.
* A staff member reported a missing ring of custodial keys in the Molecular Biology building.
* Mukhtar Bekklai, 156D University Village, reported the theft of his 10-speed bike from the west side of Heady Hall. Estimated loss was $15.
July 8
* During a routine traffic stop on Sheldon Ave., Roberto Vidal, 43, 214 Hyland Ave. #3, was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Vidal was arrested and charged with third-offense operating while intoxicated.
* Casey Shuck, 4439 Friley Hall, reported the theft of a television set from the Chamberlain House den. Estimated loss was $400.
* Brian Joseph Till, 23, Cedar Rapids, was found in an intoxicated state at the Iowa State Center. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
July 9
* During a routine traffic stop at West Street and Hyland Avenue, Katie L. Belgarde, 19, Cedar Rapids, was found to have been consuming alcohol while under the legal age. Belgarde was referred to Department of Transportation officials for a .02 civil violation. A passenger in the vehicle, Elizabeth Dinnen, Urbandale, was charged with being in possession of alcohol while under the legal age.
* During a routine traffic stop at Beach Avenue and Lincoln Way, Leonardo Roberto, 20, 3014 Oakland St., was found to be operating with a revoked license. Roberto was arrested and charged with driving under revocation. He was released on citation.
